Relying on Your Doctor or Drug Store for Pain Relief?

Back - Poison News

Researchers recently published the results of their acetaminophen study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). In just two weeks, 40 percent of the people who took 4 grams a day (8 tablets), had signs of liver damage.10

You may not realize it, but acetaminophen – the active ingredient in many of the popular over-the-counter pain relievers – is so common in other medications, it’s easy to take too much. In fact, overdoses of acetaminophen are the leading cause of acute liver failure.

Many turn to their doctor and get prescriptions for more powerful pain medications. But they have their problems too. Since their release in 1999, these drugs have claimed the lives of over 65,000 due to increased risk of heart attack.
